2016 Italy | Rome Italy Travel Photography

Our second leg of our Italy trip was spent in the Trastevere part of Rome, Italy. Fred’s sister had found this part of town traveling previously and fell in love with it’s artsy vibe and amazing restaurants. She picked out one of the Rome rentals for us to stay in and it was great! The streets wind into one another and the late night diners and bar hoppers are out every night! The night life is bustling. We spent most of the days sight seeing and walking while Freddie navigated the streets with the crazy Italian drivers! Thank goodness for Fred’s driving skills otherwise getting to all the places that we did wouldn’t have happened as easily. I also think it was easier for us to get around due to the fact that we already had an idea of the places we wanted to visit. I’m so happy that we decided to hire a van instead of paying for taxis everyday. That would have been so expensive. All we had to do was find a company that would allow us to hire out a vehicle and find the right sort of van insurance through companies like One Sure Insurance. As they work with over 20 different van insurers, there was a lot for us to consider before making our final decision. But this was the best move that we could have made, especially as the drivers here in Italy aren’t the safest. This way, we knew we’d be protected while on the road and ensure we would reach each destination in one piece.
The Colosseum, the St. Peter’s Basilica Vatican City, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Roman Forum, Spanish, Steps, Altare Della Patria, and more espresso, wine and food than I should have in a lifetime.

One of my favorite restaurants along our travels in Rome was Hostaria Luce. A hidden gem, where the owner poured us his home made red wine to enjoy! Sitting outdoors was perfection, listening to the people walking by, villa lights above, and wishing that in my next life I live in Europe…

Grazia & Graziella in Trastevere had delicious fried artichokes, pizzas, and house vino. Aristocampo is in a neat part of Trastevere with a square and many other pubs and restaurants around to almost bar/appetizer hop! Roma Sparita was Erica’s dream restaurant but no matter what we did for 3 days straight we couldn’t get a reservation or a walk-in, so be sure to reserve before you even leave for vacation! All she wanted was cacio e pepe, but luckily we found a semi-replacement at La Taverna de’Mercanti. Their service was wonderful, the atmosphere was GORGEOUS sitting out on the balcony and there was even a live show at the neighboring restaurant Da Meo Patacca.
