Katie and Matt’s George Peabody library wedding in Baltimore the last weekend of summer. Elizabeth Bailey Weddings team designed this elegant city wedding with gorgeous florals from Wicked Willow Event Florals. I’ve never seen the George Peabody Library look so romantic and gorgeous. Katie’s dad mentioned the movie Beauty and the Beast and it truly was a fairytale location just like the library in the movie/book. Her Love Couture bridal gown was perfection on Katie and I love that she rocked sparkly Badgley Mischka flats all day! Matt and Katie had planned to do a first look in the garden out front of the Peabody Library, The Walters Art Museum was just the best spot. It may have been a bit hot and breezy, so luckily Gregory Dean stayed until the reception to do touch ups and make sure there were no fly aways for everyone! (He and Sergio were AMAZING and incredibly detail oriented and made not just the couple but the family and wedding party feel so special)
Katie & Matt had known one another a little in college, but reconnected a few years later on New Years Eve. They began dating shortly after reconnecting in DC. They both love that they have the ability to make one another laugh, especially when they need to feel better when days are rough. They were going out to dinner at one of Katie’s favorite restaurants in DC, Restaurant Nora in Dupont Circle. Matt said they should celebrate that they had finished filing their taxes (“we are nerdy and I believed that was the sort of thing he would want to celebrate :-]”). They parked in Kalorama, near the restaurant and he said since they got there early they should walk around. They walked to these beautiful steps in the neighborhood, where there was another couple eating a giant pizza, and Matt suddenly got nervous and started walking back (as Katie would learn later, he originally wanted to propose there, but his plan was foiled by a pizza – they both love pizza so they appreciated that!) They kept walking and ended up in Mitchell park, a smaller park surrounded by beautiful townhouses and apartments in the Kalorama neighborhood. They sat on a bench and talked, and then Matt got down on one knee and asked Katie to marry him. She was so excited that she was speechless! However said yes, called their families, and went to dinner incredibly excited to spend the rest of their lives together.
