Graham planned this special fall proposal photo session for Katy at the Schuylkill River park. It was the day after Thanksgiving in Philadelphia and people were out walking off all the turkey and sweet potatoes. The dog park was packed with families and center city seemed to be in such a happy mood!
Graham and Katy met in college. Although Katy was a year above Graham and ultimately graduated earlier, he found himself moving to Philadelphia when he graduated to be with her. Throughout the 4 years they lived there, they would always get up on Saturdays, go buy some coffee and walk down to the Schuylkill River Path. They’ve always wanted a dog, but haven’t had the time/space/circumstances to do so. So they would always end up walking to the dog park and sitting inside just to watch the dogs there play. The spot where Graham proposed has a lot of meaning to them because they spent so much time there over the course of 4 years. It became a “tradition” to take some time and really enjoy the city in which they lived. They’re moving back to Philadelphia this summer, and they both can’t wait to start going back there every week just like we used to.
It was meaningful to them both to start their engagement story in center city Philadelphia. While they were home visiting their families, Graham decided this was the moment. They were staying at the Hotel Sofitel Philadelphia and walked over to the river. I spent a few moments clearing people away from the spot and many of those people waited watching out for the proposal!! It was so exciting to capture their fall proposal overlooking the Schuylkill River dog park! Graham knelt down right in front of one of the last bright orange and yellow fall tree left in the city, what are the chances?! Applause and cheers were heard from all the people passing by, it was electric.Graham and Katy took a few minutes after the proposal happened to walk around the Schuylkill River bank with me. Their connection and love was palpable and made it so easy to capture gorgeous engagement photos in just a few moments! Katy’s new oval diamond ring with a diamond halo fit her hand perfectly and was SO sparkly! We passed their first apartment where they started dating at the 2400 Chestnut street. Heading down the river to a spot where the 30th street station could be seen and ended their sweet fall proposal photos here. Congratulations Graham & Katy!Oh yes! The last few yellow and orange fall trees left perfectly framing these two beautiful people right after their proposal on the Schuylkill river banksThe Schuylkill river right below the market street bridge on the way to 30th Street station has some of the prettiest golden glowing light!
