Veronica and Gio first met at a work training in summer of 2018. Veronica proceeded to drink all of Gio’s whiskey and then went to bed before the vegan pizza he bought for her arrived.
Fast forward to a year later at the same training in Orlando, the two were re-introduced and the rest is history. They now live in Washington, DC with their two ridiculous cats. The couple enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring new restaurants. Veronica still steals all of his whiskey.
The proposal was a comedy of errors. Gio decided to propose to Veronica in Strasbourg, France right before New Year’s Eve. However, COVID-19 Omicron had other plans. The trip was cancelled once France/Germany placed additional restrictions to travel. Gio quickly planned for another trip after New Year’s to Asheville, NC. On the arrival to Asheville, Gio planned on proposing at a nice restaurant in downtown. However, most of classy restaurants were closed due to omicron or lack of workers. On the second day, Gio planned to proposal at the Biltmore. Upon arrival, the Biltmore lost power during the night and power was not yet restore. They continued on with the tour in the dark (with only light from the windows) and the power was restored while in the servant quarters. Not a romantic setting. Afterward, plan “E” (at this point) was to propose outside in the gardens. Mother nature decided to have 30MPH winds and low temperatures in the tens. Not ideal. That evening, Veronica and Gio found a hiking trail that would end at an open meadow field. Gio thought that would be a perfect spot. However, as they arrive at the trail, the pathway was covered with ice from the day before. Gio ran out of plans at this point. They made a reservation at the Omni Grove Inn restaurant overlooking the Blue Ridge mountains at sunset. They were arriving late and Gio quickly pulled Veronica onto the back patio while she was protesting that they would be late for their reservation. With the sun starting to set, Gio got on one knee and proposed. Veronica did not hesitate and quickly took the blue sapphire ring, the sun rays making the ring extra bright. Veronica and Gio arrived at their reservation 15 minutes late, but it was totally worth it.
