Last week I headed out to Santa Barbara California for the United Photography conference at the Fess Parker Resort and travels along the west coast. Along with many fellow photographers from MD, TX, NY, AZ, as well as many photogs from Seattle, WA! There were a handful of talented speakers to inspire and help to challenge our vision and creativity in our wedding photography businesses, I heard from a friend that they used some of the best small business software to help manage their sales. In between speakers and shoots blogging and relaxing by the pool?! Not a bad life! I even tried out the HoldFast Bridle Camera Strap!! Dream of dreams!
Although I was there for a conference, I had to scout Santa Barbara, enjoy local wine, and dive into their delicious farm to table dishes! It was a great week in an even more amazing city, Santa Barbara is a perfect spot for a traveling photographer to explore and become inspired. The colors, textures, and views blew me away! Yes of course I found myself dreaming of living with a view of the East Beach and driving down State Street to shop…but I certainly missed Old bay and the east coast (minus the snow!).
The few days in Santa Barbara were a great chance to connect with local and out of state professionals all working to a common goal. To serve our clients better and leave feeling more inspired. On our walk the morning before leaving Santa Barbara the fog sat low on the horizon and within the 2 hours of walking burnt off with the sun! Along the way we caught local skateboarders rockin it out! How fun watching them glide along the ramps. Yes, I had to ask one of them to do an extra trick for me! We went on to the Stearns Wharf which has a perfect overlook of Santa Barbara. Before hearing the talented Kenny Kim speak on destination wedding photography, we hopped over to the Blue Tavern at the Hotel Indigo for brunch and boy oh boy was it DELISH! A dungeness crab hash, if only I had the cooking skills to emulate this at home!
So happy to have roomed and gotten to know this talented lady better, Dani Leigh Photography. She is a HOOT and definitely kept me laughing the entire time!Bud & Sarah Johnson from Common Spark Media, photographing on the Santa Barbara East Beach! Just one of the cool people I met, even sporting the HoldFast Camera Strap!
