Lauren and I were heading to the Rue Mouffetard from Notre Dame, stopped off at Shakespeare and Company to hide a clue and as we were peaking around we saw a CUPCAKERY!  Cupcakes in Paris?!  Yes indeed a very exciting sight for an American tourist.  Cupcakes in the last few years have become extremely popular for wedding desserts and have begun to replace the traditional tiered wedding cakes.  The best bit is Berties CupCakery is owned by Bertie a Alexandria, VA native who moved to Paris 3 months before we found her shop.  Hearing her speak English was so exciting and I couldn’t believe how great it was to understand what I was hearing after a few days of not understanding most conversations!  She is a very driven and talented woman.  I was so impressed to find out how quickly she got her businesss up and running.  If you are in Paris and site-seeing don’t miss out on trying one of her very delicious cupcakes.  Lucky for us it was St. Patty’s day so we celebrated with a cupcake since most of Paris does not celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!!
