Lost in Connecticut…Finding my way home

Annapolis Photographer Adventure to Collinsville, CT

This past weekend in Connecticut was full of excitement! questions. silence. thoughts. noise. road bumps. snow. clouds. sunlight….clarity

Ever had a moment in your life, or many, when there are so many unanswered questions that you almost need to escape and go on a personal adventure to help yourself quiet the sound between your ears and finally come to seeing the situation clearly?!  That was me this past weekend.  I had 2 days free and what better than take a little adventure to a town I have NEVER seen or explored.

Sometimes you have to get lost to find your way…

Way to what?  Well not too sure, but I feel a bit closer to home that’s for sure.  Whenever I travel away from Annapolis, MD and day dream about all the possibilities that every little town has, I find myself falling in love with my hometown all over again.

Collinsville, CT…a quaint charming village in the middle of what seemed nowhere…Rated one of the “coolest small towns in Connecticut”.  World renowned for their Collins Company Axe Factory, built right on the Farmington river.  Now this eclectic New England Mill is home to artisans from various backgrounds. I am lucky to know photographer’s all over the country!  So I finally got to meet with a photographer friend of mine Tim Brown with TAB Photographic who gave me a insiders tour of the area along with his pup Penny (whom Lilly may have a little crush on!)  Love how he described Collinsville haha.

“Quaint drinking town with an art problem”

The last morning I was in Collinsville, walking Lilly in the freezing 16 degrees,  I watched as the sun slowly moved up one side of the mountain hiding Collinsville.  The sun broke across one peak and trickled into the darkness of the valley of Collinsville warming up the steeple and tip tops of the buildings.  I realized what a hidden gem this town was…It was beautiful looking down on this little town as the sun came across the area, reminding me the light will shine through soon, patience through darkness is key.  Do trees ever worry the sun will not come again?  I’m sure they don’t, they just know!  Before heading out I decided I had to take a few more moments to capture what I may have missed the day before.  Below is a mixture of iphone instagram and canon 5d mark III images of this great town, quiet streets only because of the frigid temperatures!
