“We met back when we were young and had the energy to go out to the bars in DC on a Saturday night,” Katie told us. As closing time approached, they had both lost their bar-hopping groups. While on the dance floor, Holly saw a man across the bar give her a wink! Feeling confident, she danced her way across the floor to join him at the bar. The wink was the first spark!
From Katie’s perspective: “Falling in love was not as simple as a wink. We immediately liked each other a lot, but I was living with my parents in Ellicott City and working up in Towson. Sean was living a wild life in a huge townhouse in DC with his best buds staying on his enormous couch every weekend. Because I was so infatuated with him, I made the drive from Towson to DC and DC to Towson more times than I care to admit. The drive took 1.5 hours minimum, but it was worth it. At least 3-4 times per week, I was at Sean’s place. Finally, we made it official a few months later. Then, he said he loved me, and I took a day to think about it, but I knew I loved him, too. Then, I moved to Baltimore with my friends because that had always been a dream of mine. We got this giant townhouse in Fed Hill, and FINALLY Sean started to come and visit me, too. We had an awesome time while we both lived in party townhouses in two very different cities. We were splitting time between our two groups of friends, and even combining friends at some of our bigger parties! One night, Sean asked me to move to DC with him. I could see the love in his eyes, and he was so excited to ask me. Everyone told us that it was a little early, but we knew that this was forever, so we went for it! Living together was the next great adventure. We continued to throw parties, go out on the town, try the awesome food in Columbia Heights (CoHi babbayy), and spend time with each other’s friends and families. I had to change my job because the drive to Towson was killing me, so I said goodbye to ICS and moved on to MCPS. When covid hit, we were still living in our first apartment together. Working from home together in a one bedroom apartment lasted about 3 days before we realized we needed a bigger place. A few months later, we moved to our next apartment in downtown Silver Spring (DTSS babayyy). This two-bedroom apartment came with a pool! This was the apartment we lived in when we got engaged. We were so happy. We were so happy that we grew our family by one amazing fur baby, named Maisie. She is our baby and we treat her as such. We knew that we wanted our family to grow even more eventually, so we decided to upgrade to a house in Laurel! It is totally fitting that we would end up in a townhouse where we love to throw parties and host our friends and families. Sean, Maisie, and I are so happy with our lives. We are in love and so excited to get married.”
