The Branford House Mansion – Groton, Connecticut

After my New England weekend wedding at the Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm in Connecticut I had to flash back to the beautiful seaside wedding in Groton, CT.  There is something so unique and special to me about New England, it must be the light!  A bluish gray soft quality, as if the sun shines down differently up there. I was told before I moved to Boston, MA 4 years ago that I had to visit “The Cape” otherwise known as Cape Cod, that I would notice a soft quality to the light.  That friend was so right!  I lived in Massachusetts for 2 years photographing weddings and families all over Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Martha’s Vineyard!  One thing that remained the same in all those places was that beautiful quality to light and the charming vintage venues in New England.  Although my home base is Maryland currently, I will never turn down the opportunity to photograph another New England Wedding!

Sierra and Steve became Mr. and Mrs. at The Branford House Mansion .  The Mansion grounds and interiors were aw-inspiring and featured panoramic views of Fishers Island and Long Island Sound.  The exterior of the Branford House was granite quarried from the grounds in order to keep with the harmony of the estates natural surroundings. The interior of the Mansion has winding staircases and the beautiful marble staircase imported from Italy.

The ceremony began overlooking the Water and Lighthouse, with a very lively Reception full of dancing inside the Branford House!  The tables and chairs were adorned with a pale green and white decorations almost mimicking the beautiful views of the land outside. The dance floor wasn’t empty for a moment.  From the beautifully decorated tables to the stunning views the night only got better with a beautiful sunset and Chocolate Chip Cookies and Milk served as a night cap!  The Backus and Pacholski Families merged so beautifully and it was an honor to capture this wonderful day.
