While in their junior year of college, Maddy and Zach were matched up during Greek Week. On the first night, Zach photo-bombed a picture of Maddy and her friends, but they had no idea who he was. As the events of the week went on, they talked more and it became clear Zach was interested in Maddy. He even changed the teams at one event do they could be paired up together. After drinking, they agreed to go to each other’s formals. Later that week, Maddy confided in her close friend that she was “going to marry that boy.”
While the original plan for the proposal was to pop the question in 2020 at Oktoberfest in Germany, COVID significantly delayed those plans. Instead, after sneaking away for an “oil change” to secretly buy Maddy’s ring, Zach proposed at a winery.
