The proposal story, from the couple’s perspective:
We took a trip to Yosemite National Park in Feb. 2021 for Jenn’s 30th birthday, where she wanted to conquer Upper Yosemite Falls Trail. The hike was a little over 7 miles with a 2,700 ft elevation gain.
We started the trek at 9am and spent the next ~4 hours climbing to the top. Fully exhausted at the peak, we had a nice lunch consisting of sandwiches, trail mix, and both shared an apple. After we were fed and had some much-needed rest, we packed our bags to head back down.
Jenn was taking one last look down at the valley, saying goodbye to the breathtaking views. Then she turned around and Dave was down on one knee. With tears of joy, she fell to the ground to embrace Dave and told him she loved him so much. Finally Dave sweetly asked, Jenn, will you please stand up? She nodded then stood up. He then asked, Can you remind me which hand? Smiling, Jenn presented him her left hand and Dave held it, Jenn, will you marry me? She responded YES! and Dave politely asked, Which finger is it again? Giggling, she pointed to her ring finger where he slipped on the ring. We hugged for what felt like a lifetime.
Luckily, there were several other hikers there and one immediately volunteered to take our picture. The hike down was tough but also seemed like a dream. On our way out of the park, we were fortunate to see the Firefall phenomenon, which was just the perfect end to an equally challenging yet rewarding day.
