Williamsburg Destination Wedding Weekend | Wendy & Liz

January 23, 2017

I don’t often get an entire weekend away on one of the PRETTIEST weekends of the year! Here’s a glimpse into my candid view of my best friend’s Williamsburg destination wedding weekend, as a bridesmaid. Head’s up, this is a personal post. Lots of moments I don’t often get to see because I’m normally behind the camera. This time I was honored to be one of the maid’s of honor in Wendy’s wedding and seeeee it allllllll.

My bestie Wendy married the sweetest bestest gal, Liz and I have been dying to edit my own personal life photos. Winter months are when I catch up on the stock pile of my personal photos. So rewind back to the best fall foliage weekend in November for their wedding weekend in Williamsburg at the Woodlands! Down south they do things a lil’ different and it was out of this world amazing from Thursday night to Sunday morning! Food glorious food, entertainment, history, sights, champs, and oh so much photobooth fun. The best part was I got to test my newest gear the Nikon D750 out and actually turn it off once our amazing friend and professional Kirsten Zarek showed up to shoot their wedding. Having half your wedding guests be professionals in the wedding industry had to have brought up questions like…will they sneak in gear, let go?! Enjoy themselves?! Well to say we all shut off our wedding brains and really celebrated and were overjoyed to watch Wendy marry her best friend Liz. We all cried as she walked down the aisle with her mom and dad. And all the men looked lovely in their tuxedos. I wonder what Tuxedo Rental they went through for them? Wendy’s mom not wanting to let go, tears streaming. Hugged, laughed, danced our butts off, and BOY I didn’t even think about my camera once. So thank you Wendy and Liz and your entire families for hosting this amazing weekend and having us along to celebrate your marriage.

Love you both! Cheers to some fun outtakes and behind the scenes. So obsessed with all my Nikon gear. Sorry Canon I’ll always love you, but Nikon has won this gal over!

Our first day sight-seeing in Colonial Williamsburg at The College of William and Mary.

Wendy and Liz chose to get married at the Woodlands and boy was this scene just perfection, golden sunlight streaming through the bamboo trees, a stream, felt like a secret garden and right at the reception space!Woodlands Williamsburg Destination Wedding RehearsalWoodlands Williamsburg Destination Wedding RehearsalWoodlands Williamsburg Destination Wedding RehearsalWoodlands Williamsburg Destination Wedding RehearsalSeriously these people are my favorites<3, the kiddos were pretty excited too to have a new Aunt Wendy!!Woodlands Williamsburg Destination Wedding Ceremony RehearsalWoodlands Williamsburg Destination Wedding Rehearsal - Teal DressWoodlands Williamsburg Destination Wedding Rehearsal - Teal DressWoodlands Williamsburg Destination Wedding Rehearsal - Teal DressWoodlands Williamsburg Destination Wedding Rehearsal - Teal DressThey played patty cake in the middle of the ceremony…It’s just Wendy & Liz being Wendy and Liz.

Watching Wendy take every moment of this wedding she’s waited for happen, was so special. As another wedding photographer you completely understand how unbelievably surreal that moment has to be for her. Wendy has photographed weddings for over 15 years and here it was, she was on the other side of the lens. You realize that you save the funniest things until the last minute, then just laugh about it because no matter how much planning or tips or tricks you’ve heard, there’s always that something left to do! Best tip I could ever impart would be to put your CAMERAS and PHONES DOWN!!!

Enjoy the moment, it flies by in the blink of an eye. So be there in every way.
