Not looking for the traditional 5 tiered cake, or pies? Cupcakes have been sweeping through my 2011 and 2012 weddings. I wasn’t sure when I first began seeing cupcakes at weddings whether it was just a trend or a new fad, but it has certainly become popular!
Months ago while I was scouting for Katie and Rob Burns wedding in Windsor, CT. I walked past the greatest find, a delicious cupcake shop! The Sweet Spot Bake Shop, is covered in vibrant greens and pinks, and the people were so inviting. I of course had to order 4 cupcakes to try! I know what you’re thinking, hopefully you shared them Carly! Of course I did…well one. Ha.
The Sweet Spot Bake Shop is located near the heart of Windsor, CT and is family run. You can just taste the owner, Tenneille’s passion for cakes, in each delicately prepared cupcake! It was so nice chatting with Tenneille on the phone! Learn exactly what the Sweet Spot Bake Shop is in her own words:
“We are very passionate about what we do here. We often joke that we “sell smiles” because people are always so excited when they come in to purchase our cupcakes. I truly enjoy what I do because I see the effect it has on people. Life can be stressful at times so it’s nice to know that we can somehow in some way put a smile on someones face. I started in this business almost by accident…a few years ago I was searching for a bakery to make a special cake for my daughter’s christening reception. I’d seen a cake online of a white cross covered in fondant with pink flowers on it. I called several local bakeries and none of them did fondant cakes. So I made it myself! It came out great and I posted a photo of it on facebook. Instantly people started asking me to make cakes for them. When I decided to open the Sweet Spot, I realized that not every day is a special occasion so people don’t always need a fancy elaborate cake. Cupcakes were the perfect addition! Because you don’t need a special event or party, just need the desire to eat something sweet! We offer over 40 different yummy flavors to choose from and we’re always experimenting to add more to the line-up. Brides love cupcakes because of the variety of flavors they can choose from. Cupcakes have become very popular with weddings. I love the trend and hope it continues.”
