Within the first few minutes of breathing deep, eyes wide open, chin up to the sky, this small town photographer in Paris found an obsession….with…..
DOORS!!
Blue doors, red doors, black, green, distressed doors….Doors! The door knobs, door bells, door knockers and handles were all incredible. It seems that not a detail was missed when the architects from the past designed the buildings from the trim to the door bells. I have always loved unique and antique doors but never seen an awesome one every other flat in America!
Doors I see as the line between one space and another…An opening, closing, chance for reflecting… This kept coming to my mind.
“When one door closes, another door opens; but we so often look so long and regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.”
-Alexander Graham Bell
Paris was definitely an opening and closing of many thoughts, ideas, and dreams all in one! Finally I was giving myself the time to really reflect and embrace the opportunities that are actually right in front of my nose that I may not have noticed before! So exciting.
Lauren and I in the mirror of her door knob at 10 rue du croissant! A blue door I will NEVER forget!
Have you figured out that I LOVE reflections? Just a little bit!
The best way to get to know someone’s vision is in the details that they see just walking along in the day to day. AMAZING images can be made in a junk yard or alley, but throw a girl a huge bone (AKA PARIS) and she may get crazy inspired and take over 4000 images!
I loved capturing short moments where street artists fled and continued their lives…It’s so neat to think about each individual and what makes their life tick
This woman was such a perfect contrast to the American woman in the Coca-Cola bottle
Parisians never stop taking smoke breaks it seems! Most every building I would pass I would have to wait for a short moment that they would go back in to work and clear my favorite door ways!
Finally a door I towered over! Took forever to find one!
Doorway on the train from the Rue Mofftard to the Eiffel Tower and round about!
Two lovers in the gardens of the Rodin Museum…Yes any American wedding photographer in Paris would be in HEAVEN! It’s almost like you can’t avoid photographing all the love birds around you candidly. Couldn’t help it!
The door that inspired my entire college visions and photographs. Plus my favorite man that seemed to be purposefully posing so naturally for me! Little did he know this FAMOUS american photographer in paris was going to keep his photo!
My ABSOLUTE favvvvvorite photograph this day up at the La Basilique du Sacré Coeur de Montmartre
“Enter or Exit”
There are moments, some short and others forever, where we stand in front of a door not sure if we are to enter or exit…
Maybe that’s what he’s thinking?
