From day one Jamie and Bonner’s relationship has been an adventure so to have a destination wedding at The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club seemed like the best place to continue their journey. They are so comfortable together. As soon as they both set eyes on one another at their First look in the gardens, the excitement was infectious! Butterflies were even chasing them through the garden, haha. I feel like it was a dream how perfect their day was and how it said 100% chance of rain, yet right above them was this beautiful pocket of NO rain!! The storm stayed off the coast and made for beautiful photos on the beach. These two have a ball with one another from just laughing, teasing, flirting (still!!), and dancing the night away. Their friends and family came from Florida, Texas, and beyond to join them in their union overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.
I find that I can’t tell the story as good as the actual couple so here is their proposal story from Jamie’s eyes on Bonner popping the question: “Bonner and I were maintaining a long distance relationship, (I was in FL and he was in TX), when we booked a spontaneous vacation at an all-inclusive resort (with butler service) on the beautiful island of Sint Maarten. Although my friends suggested Bonner might propose, I was convinced it wasn’t going to happen then. First of all, he hadn’t spoken to my family (who I could have gotten to clue me in), and second he hadn’t asked for my grandmother’s ring, an heirloom he certainly knew about. A couple of days into the trip, Bonner excused himself from the table while we were sharing lunch at a beach-side restaurant. Unbeknownst to me, he left to facetime my mom and sister. Because of work schedules and distance, he had been unable to meet with them in person, but still managed to get their permission/approval, even thousands of miles away. After what seemed like an unreasonable amount of time went by, I was getting worried…the husband in a couple eating nearby offered to go look for Bonner in the restroom, but didn’t find him! Bonner returned shortly thereafter and managed to convince me of a stalling conversation with someone on the way back to the table. The vacation continued with ziplining, shopping excursions, lounging by the pool, roof top drinks under the stars, and me winning the resort’s beach BBQ games competition (Bonner lost in final four because he lacked hula-hooping skills). Halfway through the trip we asked the butler to reserve a table at one of the resort restaurants for dinner. When she came to escort us, we were led to a cliffside gazebo decorated with gorgeous red and white flowing drapery. It was amazing, but the whole vacation had been, so I thought it was just another nice private dinner… We shared one of the best prepared meals I have ever eaten, and as we were being served dessert, our butler (a young girl named Dahlia), asked if she might dedicate a song to us. She began to sing “A Moment Like This” by Kelly Clarkson in perfect pitch a capella. While she was singing, Bonner started to say something to me, and I gave him the ‘don’t be rude and interrupt’ sort of look, but he kept saying “something”. Truthfully, it was all so surreal, and somewhere during his speech, he knelt down and proposed with the most gorgeous diamond ring… He told me that I am his best friend, and that his love for me is unwavering, unbreakable; he would do anything to make me happy… At some point he mentioned that although he knew I had my grandmother’s ring, he wanted to give me something new, filled with his own promises. And before I knew what was happening, the song had ended, a ring was on my finger, people were applauding, and I was asking him to repeat everything he had said. Like I mentioned, it was all quite surreal! ”
