Kate surprised Tyler by taking him to their first date spot Starbucks on their one year date-iversary. Their “meet-cute” was just too full of magnetism I have to share Kate’s version with you. Bumble brought them together exactly a year ago, thank goodness for that amazing app…
Kate shares all about their first date: Tyler and I met on bumble and his profile said “I’m a 10… on the ph scale because I’m basic AF.” So, we decided that our first date had to be basic AF too, so we met up at a mall Starbucks. I was 20 minutes late and when I got there he had just gotten his coffee and was standing there clearly not knowing what to do. Should he go sit down and get us a seat in the busy coffee shop? Should he stand with me in line while I ordered? Seeing that he was already flustered I decided to ease the tension by hugging him and saying “hey nerd. Whatcha drinking?” To which he replied “a double tall no whip white mocha.” “Oh is that because you’re so white? Well, I’m gonna get in line and order my coffee.”
He sat down instead of standing with me (wrong decision) while I stood in line about ten feet away from him for what felt like 20 minutes. Super awkward. Meanwhile an older gentleman was chatting me up while we waited for our turn at the register. I asked the man to save my spot in line while I went over to Tyler, gave him my jacket and bag so he would feel like we were actually there together since he hadn’t said more than two words to me 20 minutes into our date and said “you better look out, this old guy’s gonna steal you from me.” I remember the look on his face being “what just happened” pretty much the first good chunk of our date.
When I got my coffee and he did start talking, we clicked immediately and nursed those coffees for a good two hours before I started dropping subtle hints like “hey I’m hungry. I’m going to go eat tacos at the restaurant next door because I’m so hungry.” I probably said that four of five times before he asked if he could join me.
We spent another several hours eating all the Mexican food before it was time to go. We kissed by my truck and the rest is history.
9 months later they had an intimate wedding at one of Kate’s wedding venues, Haven Street Ballroom. We all agreed that when you know you know. It truly is that simple when paths cross and your souls and energy align! They both had bee tattoos on their wedding day as a homage to their first date from Bumble the app. Could it seriously get any cuter and unique to them?! LOVE it. Cheers to you two and many more basic dates that you two make magical.
