Jeannie and Pete met through work, but didn’t start their relationship until they reconnected during the pandemic. “During a time when everyone was checking in on one another and banding together to support each other, we found ourselves connecting over shared quarantine interests – music, bingeable shows, coffee, whisky, working out, and grilling experiments,” Jeannie said. Their first “real” date was a roadtrip to a brewery, where they realized how natural and easy it was to be with each other. Pete appreciated Jeannie’s sharp wit and passion for causes across the globe, and Jeannie had to admit Pete’s punny humor was funny from time to time. “Our love grew from there as the pandemic restrictions decreased and we met each others family and friends. Many roadtrips, jugs of cold brew, races/workouts, and adventures later, we decided we were meant to spend the rest of our lives together.”
When it came time for a proposal, Jeannie and Pete decided to get engaged in their home, so they could always see where it happened. The ploy involved a company holiday party they never attended, including an email invite as proof, just to get Jeannie dressed up for the occasion. Though after she said “Yes!”, she changed immediately into jeans for a celebratory dinner at a fancy sushi restaurant.
