“Live Love Laugh” Days | Life as a Maryland Photographer

January 5, 2013

Sometimes you really have to take an awesome saying and RUN with it.  I mean RUNNnn with it!  Everyday I wake up thinking work work work, luckily today I worked a bit and decided you know what?!  It is time for Carly to have a little fun and explore life with my nephews while they’re little…Fill their life with a little silly corky love, and get to laugh like a little kid before they think I’m the “uncool” Aunt! haha

Here’s to finally LIVING my own life TODAY not tomorrow!!  It has been an amazing whirlwind of a year and now that 2013 is here I have realized how important it is to capture my time with my family and friends…Not all families are lucky enough to live within 30 minutes of each other AND 40 minutes of our countries capital.  With a Saturday off I thought what would be more fun then to run around the DC Mall and the Smithsonian with my nephews and sister.  We went to the Samuel C. Johnson IMAX “Coral Reef” movie and it was incredible.  Made me want to go on a warm vacation(thoughts?!).

“We do not inherit the earth from our parents. We borrow it for our children.”  Amazing statement….

Our evolution was next as per request of Jack my oldest nephew, he found out we are homosapiens and continued to call us that the rest of the day haha.  Dinosaurs were next (MY favorite part!!)  I know it may seem a bit strange but I am intrigued by dinosaurs…their fossils, and even the drawings of what they looked like.  I am still blown away with how HUGE the life scale bones in the museum looked when you were younger and now I feel as though I could definitely stand up to a dinosaur if attacked.  HA (just playing).  The fun didn’t seem to end, we left the Smithsonian and headed out to the mall to walk around because of the gorgeous light and what to our surprise was a CAROUSEL!!!!  So of course Aunt Carly took about 30 minutes to get us over there by the time the silly photos were done in the mall with the amazing soft sunsetting.  Gah I love light.  Luckily my family is used to the photos constantly being taken even with my little point and shoot Canon G10 when I’m on a “day off” trying to give my right hand a break from my large Canon 5DM3.  I most DEFINITELY recommend sometimes taking a lighter camera so that you can tuck it away and really play and have fun with your day…There are times I have to remind myself to enjoy the moment and not just stay behind the camera. ha

I hope you enjoy seeing our silly day off photos running around Washington DC!  If you are in town and have a free 45 minutes make sure to see the Coral Reef Imax movie…incredible imagery.  So hopefully I will be able to post another Live Love Laugh day soon!
