Last March (2018) Fletcher called me and said this weekend, let’s go to Rehoboth for the day. My parents have a house in Rehoboth, so Fletcher and I would take a yearly trip during the summer. In the back of my head I wondered if this trip could be “the trip” but I didn’t want to read into anything. Fletcher was also getting ready to go out of town for 3 weeks for work so I thought he wanted to do something special together. Once we got to Rehoboth, we stopped at our favorite breakfast spot, Goolies. After eating, Fletcher wanted to walk along the beach. Little did I know, while we were walking Fletcher was texting with photographers who he asked to “hide” and capture the moment. We walked closer to the water, he kissed me, and I could see him start to go down on one knee, but before his knee touched the sand, I had already started crying. I’m pretty sure I blacked out at that moment because I can’t even remember what he was saying! Since that day, we’ve gone back to that exact spot to relive the best day of my life.
